FAQs Why no diagnosing? ~This is a space for those who want to talk with out needing to meet diagnostic criteria required by insurance companies for payment. How do I join a group? ~Fill out the community form and google waiver form and we will place you with the overarching group of what you need (e.g. anxiety) so that the members are relatable to one another. Is this the same as therapy? ~No this is not a therapy service these are support groups. How many groups can I be in? ~How every many you decide you are needing that day, week, etc. people are complex with complex life issues, we get that. How is the group run? ~They are 1 hour meetings on zoom on the scheduled day and time. What if I just want to try it out once? ~That's totally fine. What if I don't mesh well with the other attendees? ~That's okay, maybe with that particular group of people you aren't able to build a rapport with, we can most likely place you into a new group. Will I be forced to talk? I just want to be present and learn from others or observe. ~That's cool no pressure, chime in when you're ready, or don't. We would like everyone to have a opportunity to get some things off their chest if they like, but if today isn't that day, no worries. Why do I have to pay out of pocket? ~Insurance companies require psychiatrists, therapists, counselors, etc. to assign you some sort of diagnosis in order to file a claim for payment, we do not work with insurance companies. We feel that there are individuals who don't want a paper trail regarding their mental health following them or don't want to be forced to take on a diagnosis they just want to talk plain and simple, so we cater to these types of people. Can I speak freely and even say fuck, shit, cunt, asshole, bitch etc.? You sure can as long as it isn't directed at another attendee and in reference to a life event being recounted. How many days does the group run? ~Each group will meet once per week on the meeting day and time unless other wise noted (cancelled, re-scheduled in which case you will be notified and refunded if necessary or provided a credit for another session electing a refund may carry a fee in some circumstances) Is there an end date for the groups? ~Not particularly, especially if a group has formed a bond and wants to continue to meet long term or indefinitely. We find that in some cases groups may run their course or people want to experience other people and new perspectives and they may choose to depart from one group to another newly formed group. I dont like constantly meeting new people can you help with that? ~ Yes, the groups are closed meaning once capacity is reached no new members may join that group. It's awkward to join a group pf people that already have a rapport. So to reduce the felling of "odd man/woman out", we start all attendees to at the same time together. Other info: The zoom sessions are locked so participants can't record from the zoom platform, however your personal discretion is required, you may opt to use an alias, handle etc. to protect you personal identity and information. You will never be required to use your given name if you don't want to while attending a group meeting. In the vein we all should understand we cant control what others may do on their personal devices, screen-shots record audio etc, there is literally no way for us to prevent that so use discretion even leave your camera off if you' like it isn't required to be on. Disruptive behavior is a ticket to being removed from any and all groups at the facilitator's discretion, be respectful of the other group members and the session time. Racist, sexist, homophobic, classist, ablesist, etc. remarks of any kind are zero tolerance you will be ejected from the group and banned.Period. This is a place of peace and release, there should be no fear.
